The Journey of an exceptional journalist
Kum Leonard is one of the pioneer Editor In-Chief of Buea based TV, HI TV. A position he held between June 2011 and November 2018 in Buea where he practiced Journalism for exactly 7 years.
Later on, he was appointed Managing Director of BT MEDIA GROUP since Nov 2018, ensuring the day to day management of the Media Group, respect for House Editorial amongst other policies. He equally handles administrative matters at different levels, also engaging partnerships with other structures. He is also Host of two TV Programs on My Media Prime TV, the mother Channel of the Media Group that comprises eight TV Channels.
Leonard also currently runs a Peace Initiative called PEACE HOUSE, with objective of recruiting as many Peace Crusaders as possible, to engage the preaching of Love, Forgiveness and Reconciliation at all levels of our community life, starting with the family. Kum also runs a yearly Journalism Scholarship Scheme for students of Journalism Club of GBHS & GHS Wum
Kum Leonard Bin is a member of many Journalists’ Associations and Trade Unions. He is member of the Cameroon Journalists’ Trade Union, SNJC, Cameroon Community Media Network, CCMN and Cameroon Association of English-Speaking Journalists, CAMASEJ. He served as the pioneer President of the Cameroon Journalists Trade Union for the Southwest Region & Pioneer Secretary General of the Cameroon Community Media Network . In his Secondary School days, he also served as Senior Prefect of GBSS Wum & GHS respectively.
Leonard has been honored with many Awards including, the, Flag Bearer Award and recognition by the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, University of Buea, TV Broadcaster of the year, Guardian Post Award 2020, Best Peace Journalist Award PANAFES 2020, Best TV Moderator, Dreams Network Golden Award 2021, and a host of others. He is married to Foy Cynthia with whom they have two boys
